Choosing a credit card
A credit card gives you a revolving credit limit from the issuing bank. If you pay the full statement amount by the due date, you usually pay no interest on purchases. If you pay less, interest is charged on the outstanding balance, and it is typically much higher than on loans. The right card depends on how you spend and whether you will clear the balance every month.
Early Grow helps you compare cards from partner banks and apply. The bank decides on approval and sets the credit limit.
Types of credit card
- Rewards cards – points on spending that you can redeem for products, vouchers or miles.
- Cashback cards – a percentage of eligible spending credited back to your card.
- Travel and fuel cards – benefits on flights, hotels, lounges or fuel surcharges.
- Business cards – for separating and tracking business expenses.
- Secured cards – issued against a fixed deposit, and useful for building a credit history.
Typical eligibility and documents
Banks set their own minimum age, income and credit criteria. Most ask for:
- PAN and address proof.
- Income proof, such as salary slips, ITRs or bank statements.
- A photograph and any other KYC documents the bank requires.
If you have no credit history, a secured card against a fixed deposit is often the easiest place to start.
How Early Grow helps
- We ask how you spend – travel, fuel, online shopping or business – and whether you usually pay in full.
- We suggest suitable cards from partner banks and explain the fees and the value of the benefits.
- We help you submit the application. The bank verifies your details and decides.
Costs to check
- Joining and annual fees, and the spending needed to have the annual fee waived.
- Interest on revolving balances, late-payment fees, and charges on cash withdrawals.
- Foreign currency mark-up, if you spend abroad or in foreign currency.
- Your rights under RBI’s credit card rules, including closing a card on request. See the Reserve Bank of India website.
